(28 verses, 4:23 to read)
What I am about to READ
Ezra received the go ahead and support for his return.
MARK and LEARN
1-10: The introduction of Ezra. The genealogy shows that Ezra was a member of the priestly family. “The good hand of his God was on him.” God called Ezra to be His prophet, to assist the exiles returning to Jerusalem.
11-26: The letter from King Artaxerxes. The king gave Ezra the support of the Persian government. Ezra was financial assistance, the authority to collect a free-will offering, and the authority to govern the Jews according to the Mosiac law.
27-28: Ezra responded to the King’s letter by praising God for putting this generosity in the King’s heart.
All glory belongs to God. “The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the Lord. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirit. Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” (Proverbs 16:1-3)
