Ezekiel 27: Prophecy against Tyre Continued

(36 verses, 5:00 to read)

What I am about to READ

  • Ezekiel prays a lament over Tyre

  • The first 27 verses of this chapter speak of the great wealth and riches of Tyre. Then, suddenly, all of their riches “sink into the heart of the sea.”
  • The various prophecies of Tyre’s destruction in the Bible are astonishing in their accuracy. It was an island city, but Alexander the Great built a cause-way to the island and destroyed the city (322 BC).

  • Page after page the Scriptures warn us against pride, trusting in our wealth and strength and ability. The Lord can make us rich or poor, strong or weak in a day. All of Tyre’s strength is turned to nothing, while Israel (who is weak and in exile) will be brought back to it land and given (at least for a while) some strength. Our life and everything in it is from God.
