Daniel 7: Daniel’s Dream of Four Beasts

(28 verses, 4:08 to read)

What I am about to READ

In a dream, the Lord revealed to Daniel the future of the world up until Judgment Day.

Chapter 7 begins the second part of Daniel, which consists of prophecy. It contains the same theme as the first six chapters: God is in control of the kingdoms of the world. In the first six chapters, this truth was taught through the lives of Daniel and his friends. In the second six chapters, this truth is taught through prophecies revealed to Daniel. If you have time, take a look at Revelation 13. The table below may help as you read through Daniel 7:

The Symbols: What/Who they represent: What will happen:
The lion Babylon Wings torn off
The bear Medes and Persians
The leopard Greek Empire Will have 4 heads
Terrifying beast Rome Will be different from the other beasts
Ten horns The kingdoms that come from Rome
The little horn The Antichrist Will uproot three horns, eyes of a man, and speak boastfully
Ancient of Days God the Father The court will be seated
The Son of Man God the Son Will come in the clouds of heaven and have everlasting dominion.
Saints of the Most High Believers Will possess the kingdom

In this chapter we’re reminded that the gates of hell will never prevail against the Church. Whether Satan uses the kingdoms of the world or the Antichrist himself, the Church will endure, and in the end it will possess the kingdom.
