Psalm 62: My Soul Waits in Silence

(12 verses, 1:30 to read)

What I am about to READ

This is a psalm of faith and trust in God. Whereas other securities fail, God never does.

“For God alone my soul waits in silence” teaches us that God must save and him alone. We can say nothing to defend ourselves or vindicate ourselves. Our salvation must come from God’s grace and mercy.

Vs. 9 “Those of low estate are but a breath, those of high estate are a delusion” Both the rich and the poor come to the same end. Death is the great equalizer.

Faith justifies. “Trust in him at all times…God is a refuge for us.” Trust and faith are synonymous.

“You will render a man according to his work” – Our works do follow us in eternity, for which there is a reward, but our works do no precede us. That is, we are not righteous by works but by faith in Christ.

The world is at odds with the Church. It is at odds with the Church precisely because it is at odds with Jesus and his message of salvation by grace through faith. Though we are attacked on all sides by the world, and even from within the Church, the rock solid center of our faith holds firm like a fortress, Jesus Christ and him crucified.
